The Human Side of AI-Assisted Software Development

AI is changing how we develop software. Writing code is becoming faster and easier, but this raises new questions about how developers learn, how we evaluate code, and what our role as software engineers becomes.

In this talk, I will explore three areas:

  1. Mentoring in times of AI
How does mentoring change when developers can ask AI for almost any answer? What should we still teach, and how do we help people build real understanding?

  2. Code Review in times of AI
When AI can generate working, tested code in seconds, what should we actually review? The focus shifts from simply finding bugs to understanding architecture, maintainability, trade-offs, and whether the code should exist in the first place.

  3. Working with AI
AI can be a powerful coding partner, but not everything should be delegated. How can we decide what AI should do, where it should assist us, and what we as developers still need to understand and own?

The talk is ultimately about the human skills that become more important as AI becomes better at writing software.
