Editing at the Speed of Thought (A Rubyist's Guide to Modal Editing & Ergonomics)

We all know Ruby is designed for developer happiness, but I’d like to explore how our editing setup can be too.

I want to share why I think modal editing (whether in Vim, Emacs, Zed, or VSCode) is still so valuable, even with AI doing the heavy lifting. I’d like to show how simply separating "typing" from "navigating" can save your wrists and help you stay in the flow. It’s less about being a "power user" and more about making the daily grind of coding more comfortable and fun.

Come for the keybindings, stay for the ergonomics.
