I want to explore the options we have to encrypt data at rest, and venture into the realm of browser based end-to-end encryption.

My current project requires a solid encryption scheme, and I want to present my findings on how "hard" or "easy" it actually ist to build a well encrypted web application in 2025.

Disclaimer: The application was written in Elixir/Phoenix, but in the talk I will generalize on encryption and browser technology which is equally relevant to the Ruby/Rails ecosystem.

In this day and we are actually blessed with great and straightforward options, therefore we actually have little to no excuse to skimp on this topic. The end goal of the talk is to promote "Privacy by Design" thinking when building web applications.

The earliest I can give this talk is Jan 2026.
